Eisriesenwelt and a visit at the Fortress Hohenwerfen
Our trip to Werfen is amazing everybody. No matter if either old or young, at this versatile program, nobody gets bored. Our first stop will be at the Ice Caves, which is so far, the largest ice cave in the world.
At the tour through the cave, which takes approximately one hour and will be guided by an experienced mountain guide, you will discover breathtaking ice buildings. Your efforts will be highly rewarded when you see the unique cave systems, the Ice Palace, the castle of the ice giant and the veil of the ice queen. Because of the cool air in the underground passages, it is very important to wear warm clothes and good walking shoes!
After the tour we continue trip to fortress Hohenwerfen, which was built in 1077, and which will make you travelling to the time of the High Middle Ages. Various events, such as theatre evenings, Burg festivals and concerts are made regularly, especially in summer time. In addition, every day at 3.00 p.m. a bird of prey show, made by the historic “Landesfalkenhof”. Watch how various birds of prey and especially hawks are catching their prey.
