Großglockner High Alpine Road

This excursion leads us across the Grossglockner high alpine road through one of the greatest natural landscapes of the Earth, with a length of approx. 45 kilometres, submontane to the Grossglockner (3,798 m) and its glacier, the "Pasterze", the longest glacier of the eastern Alps. The most famous alpine road is roaming along old Roman paths and was opened 1935 after 5-years hard work. By building this street, the majestic top was reaching a new dimension. Since that it is considered to one of the most popular destinations of Austria.

While having a break on the Edelweisspitze (2,571 m) you will have a fantastic panoramic view at thirty mountains with 3,000 m height. Submontane to the Grossglockner, at the Franz Josefs height you can view the highest mountain and the largest glacier of Austria. On the way going there, we will be experiencing diverse vegetation zones from grain fields up to the eternal ice. Experience the wonders of nature in its full glory.
